  17. Bristol Colts Combination Play off. As league Champions we would have loved to contest this but due to fixture congestion we have had to withdraw. The only Sunday we could have played the semi final against Yatton was last Sunday which unfortunately was not possible. This meant that to continue we would have had to play midweek this week, then if successful play in the scheduled final this Friday, 3 days before the National Final. This we believe was not the best preparation for the National Cup so we have conceded the game to Yatton, who now play Bath on friday 30th April at the Portway ground.

  18. There are a few seats left on the coach for the Colts National Cup final in Northampton on Monday May 3rd. The cost is £10. Please call into the club if you are interested.

If you have already booked a seat the coach it will be leaving the clubhouse at 09:28 sharp.

  19. The Somerset Cup final has been mover to 9th May. We will play Bath at a venue to be determined.

  20. A Coach for the Colts National Cup Final - Monday 3rd May

John behind the bar is running a list of those wishing to go…………..will be around 10.00am on the 3rd May.

Bus has to be booked by weekend, therefore those wishing to go, please advise John - a £10 payment will have to be made as we do not have the funds to cover the cost of the bus in the event of those wishing to go drop out at the last minute.

(Obviously if not enough interest, bus will not be booked and monies returned).

KO on the 3rd May, at Northampton's Franklins Gardens ground, will be 3.15pm. Entry fee £5 for Adults & U16s free

  21. The Somerset Cup Final for our Under 14's will be played at Bridgwater @ Albion Ground on Sunday 2nd May.

  30. THIS WEEKENDS SENIOR FIXTURES

    1st xv

    North Bristol (H)

    2nd xv

    Oldfield(H)

both of these games are at home this weekend and there should be no excuse for ill support, there is little time left this season so lets get behind the seniors and see the season out with a bang!!

  31. Will there be a supporters bis to colts match at Ivybridge ?

  32. Colts are away to Dings this Sunday (28th). This is a Bristol Combination League top of the table clash.Although it is difficult to be fully certain,as far as we can tell, a win for us here will put us on top and make us League Champions even though we have played two less games than Dings. One of those sides has folded so we cannot play them, so we expect the league to strip out all points gained against them, or award every side a win for that unplayed fixture. The other side is at the bottom of the table and have never seemed to have a free week to play us. Dings have won all their leaguue games bar one, which they lost to Cleve. They have also had two other games where they have not gained a bonus point. We have gained bonus points in all the league matches we have played. However due to fixture congestion we did some weeks ago realise that we would not be able to fit the home game against Yatton in so we agreed that the away draw in the first game of the season in the National Cup would count as the league result. To make it even more interesting, as far as we can tell the only game they have lost is to us in the National Cup so they will be looking for revenge. Since we beat them in the main competition they have ben successful in the Plate and are in the semi's for that competition. Your support would be welcome.

  33. The National Cup Semi Final draw has been done and our Colts will play Ivybridge away due to be played on the 17th/18th April

  34. The Colts have Ivybridge away in the National Cup semi's, almost certainly on 18th April as they play on Sunday's as well. If we get to the final it will be at Franklin Gardens on Bank Holiday Monday 3rd May.

  35. The last message for the Colts is in fact incorrect. The draw will take place today and we will have the details of the draw after 4pm today.

  36. Next stop for the Hornets Colts is Ivybridge after a dominat victory over Havant beating them 48-10.

Well Done to all the players and coaching staff.

  38. HORNETS 2NDS 7 ST BERNADETTES 2NDS 22

After another rocky warm up and another number of last minute changes with players being moved up to the first team and others such as dudd and martin jnr failing to show it was not surprising that hornets were going to be up against it from the start.

Within the first five minutes hornets soon realised this was going to be a usual physical combination fixture which surely would have left players with sore heads today. This soon turned into the bernadettes game plan as soon some of the younger hornets players found themselves being bullied both on and off the ball.

Hornets full back and part time olympic sprinter Hewlett soon crossed the line to be converted by Keating but this was to be the only home points of the day. Time went on the game soon turned from a rugby game to a boxing match soon to be intervened by the ref who issued Hewlett with a yellow card much to some of the home supporters annoyance.

Following the first half and several warnings the ref called both teams in and issued his final warning of the afternoon, thankfully both teams adhered and the rugby began, something must of clicked in the second half with rugby going well. the re were strong attacking runs from Hedges, Grimes and Armstrong aswell as a truly epic comeback from Richards.

Hornets managed to hold there 7 point win for most of the second half due to fantastic defending from centres Coggins and Lawrence. Vaughn again making a BIG difference coming on at 10 to bring some experience to the back line.

With a neck injury causing the scrummage to have to go uncontested this seemed to be the turning point for hornets with heads dropping and moral at a low things seemed to be harder going in the final twenty with hornets letting in 22 points and generally giving bernadettes the game. Hornets will have to work hard on there organisation for next week if they plan to stay contenders in the league.

Special mentions have to go to the strong back row performance and weston prop Grimes for lending his services from down the road.

  55. Those members of the club who have previously joined as Vice Presidents

are invited this year to join the Patrons

membership forms are obtainable from the bar.

The walkway down the side of the club has been 'roofed' over, to give members

options to spend more time outside without the weather issues that our climate brings.

This will ease congestion around the French doors area and benefit the club on the

more crowded days. This has been funded by the Patron's fund to a value of £2000.

This is on top of the funding by the fund of over £1000 to support pitch improvements

during the summer as well as contributions towards transport costs for last years

Under 16 and 17s, who both reached the Somerset Cup Finals.

There is due to be meeting between the club and the patrons regarding some

infrastructure projects that the club would like to look at in the hope that the patron's

    Fund can support these.
